Tag…You’re It!

in Happiness, Misc

My good friend Ian over at Quantum Learning tagged me along with six other bloggers. Basically the tag is a blogger’s version of a chain letter. However, the rules are a bit different. Here are the rules:

* Link to your original tagger and list these rules in your post
* Share 7 facts about yourself in the post
* Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names and links to their blogs
* Let them know they’ve been tagged.

Even though I have a history of being a rebel (a peaceful one), I am abiding by the rules so here are 7 things you do not know about me:

1. I am a lawyer. Pretty shocking, huh? How many lawyers have a blog that deals with happiness? Trust me, not many. Add the vegan factor along with being green and a peace lover…that makes me odd, especially at the office.

2. I once dyed my hair black with orange stripes. I was in law school, I was twenty-five and in the midst of a mid-life crisis. I refer to that hairstyle as my tiger look. Needless to say, I stuck out!

3. During the midst of my mid-life crisis, I was initiated into a Buddhist order. And no, I did not have to shave my head…thank God!

4. I once was in a rock band. What can I say…I love getting lost in the rhythm of a song.

5. I have been writing for 19 years. It is one of my passions and I hope to be able to make a career out of it!

6. I really, really, really want a 17.1 inch MacPro Laptop. Steve Jobs, if you are reading this please grant my wish. Consider it a donation so you can write it off as a tax deduction!

7. I lived in India for 6 months in a little village that had an ashram. It was one of the most challenging times of my life but an excellent learning experience. (Below is a picture of Puttaparthi which is where we lived.)

Below are the seven blogs that I love and each of these people have been very nice to me. You all rock! Please know that there is no obligation to pass on the tag. So no worries if you choose to do nothing. There are three bloggers that deserve special mention although I cannot tag them because they’ve already been tagged. They are:  Ian who makes me laugh and a fellow believer in the importance of non-violence; Michael who also makes me laugh and is an example that men can blog about love and still be cool; and last but not least, Lisis who is my spirit sister and a very generous soul!

Here are the 7 bloggers I am tagging:

Albert @ Urban Monk
Roger @ A Content Life
David @ Raptitude
Sara @ On Simplicity
Evelyn @ Attraction Mind Map
Giovanna @ Imperfect Action
Gennaro @ Enduring Wanderlust

What instrument did you play in the rock band?

Thanks for tagging me, BTW. I will make a post for this, but I will wait until I have some more readers. I want there to actually be people that are curious about me first :)

Nadia April 2, 2009 at 10:22 am

@ David – I didn’t play an instrument. I was the vocals. You are welcome for the tag…I look forward to read your list whenever you are ready!

@ Ian – How can I have been a monk when I am a girl???? :) As for your question, I was seriously 25 when my mid-life crisis began. I am an early bloomer in some things and this is one of them. :)

@ P.P. – Thank you for your well wishes and calling my life interesting. Life is a journey and an adventure. I live my life according to that philosophy in addition to other beliefs too such as kindness, love, and happiness.

Nadia, well, it sounds as though your mid-life crisis really took a hold. Tiger hair and a buddhist monk! I hope you were joking that it was at 25! If so, I’ve been in mid-life crisis for the last 20 years! No wonder it’s been such a roller coaster. LOL

Positively Present April 2, 2009 at 9:59 am

Those are some very interesting facts! It sounds like you have a very interesting life. Good luck with the writing and I hope you get your laptop. :)

Lisis April 2, 2009 at 10:14 am

@ David: Hey, I’m curious! Don’t I count for anything? I wanna know more about David!!!

@ Nadia: Awww… you’re going to make me cry! My sweet, sweet, spirit sister! I am so glad you did this post because I just had NO idea about some of these super cool facts. I would never have guessed from the soft pink and peaceful lotus that you were once a Tiger Monk chillin’ in an Ashram.

Love it!!!
=-)

@ Lisis – It is funny…my husband didn’t know about the hair either until he read this post. Glad you liked the post! :)

@ Ian – You are funny…as always! :)

Ian Peatey April 2, 2009 at 11:32 am

Well I know several buddhist monks who are most definitely girls! Or maybe they’re monkesses? monkeys? Anyway … what do I know!

Roger - A Content Life April 2, 2009 at 11:50 am

Nadia,

Thanks for tagging me (I think :) ). I’ll post something on my site tomorrow.

+1 for Buddhist Monk
-1 hair with orange stripes

Nadia April 2, 2009 at 12:01 pm

Hi Roger,

You are welcome. I look forward to see your post! :)

As for the hair…what can I say…I was young and confused. Really confused.

Michelle @ Find Your Balance April 2, 2009 at 1:24 pm

You are a unique lawyer, aren’t you? :-)

Nadia April 2, 2009 at 1:26 pm

Hi Michelle,

Welcome to Happy Lotus! Unique works for me! :)

Lisis April 2, 2009 at 5:25 pm

MONKEYS, Ian!? Now I’ll never be able to look at a female monk again without thinking that very word.

Sometimes I wonder about you…
;-)

Evelyn Lim April 2, 2009 at 9:51 pm

Thank you for the link love, my dear. You are a lawyer? Wow….I laughed when I read that. You certainly don’t look it. Okay…that is not to say anything negative about lawyers. You certainly look warm, kind and loving!! The name Happy Lotus sure makes me smile :-)

7 things about me? I am not sure I am all that interesting *blush blush*

Nadia April 3, 2009 at 8:58 am

Hi Evelyn,

You are welcome! I get that a lot about not looking like a lawyer. I am always amused at the shock on people’s faces. :)

And as for being interesting…you are! Everyone is in their own way.

Lance April 3, 2009 at 6:17 am

Hi Nadia,
I’m coming here from Ian’s site – and it’s great to meet you! Especially to come here and learn some interesting things right off the bat. Black hair with orange stripes – where’s the picture?!?!? It’s great to be here, keep on writing…

Nadia April 3, 2009 at 8:59 am

Hi Lance,

Welcome to Happy Lotus! It is great to meet you too!

Thank you so much for the kind words! :)

Gennaro April 3, 2009 at 2:25 pm

Have you ever thought of have two blogs? Happy Lawyer sounds like a winner. The novelty alone will get you coverage and visitors. Thanks for the mention, by the way.

Nadia April 3, 2009 at 3:06 pm

@ Gennaro – If I went ahead and created a Happy Lawyer blog, I may lose my license or even worse…I may make other lawyers feel really bad and I don’t want that on my conscience! :) You are most welcome for the mention!

@ Albert – No tiger pics…I got rid of the evidence! I have a reputation to protect! :)

Albert | UrbanMonk.net April 3, 2009 at 2:40 pm

Muahaha! Any ‘tiger’ pics?

Michael April 3, 2009 at 10:54 pm

Hi Nadia,

I didn’t realize that we both tagged Gennaro. I guess that makes us a tag team.

You know, the only thing on this list that surprises me is # 2. I already knew about # 1 and I think the rest comes out in your aura. ;-)

One question though: where’s the cheesecake?

Nadia April 4, 2009 at 8:21 am

Hi Michael,

Great minds think alike, right? Thank you so much for the comment on my aura…kind of cool how it reaches you all the way in L.A.! :)

janice April 6, 2009 at 6:58 am

I wish I’d visited and found this post before I tagged you at the weekend – you must have thought my email was really peculiar! I hope it’s OK to keep you in my taggees list anyway and
point people to this post.

And I’m loving the Thesis-ification!! If you need a ‘new to Thesis too’ buddy, let me know – we can have fun working it out together!

But my fave bit of your 7 reveals was the rock band! I look forward to reading more about it! (And please tell David above there are plenty of people curious about him, too! )

Nadia April 6, 2009 at 7:33 am

Hi Janice,

Thanks to your reply…I found the email that you sent me. My aol has been acting weird so thank you for letting me know you sent me an email! :) I wrote you back so look out for it! :)

I could definitely use a Thesis buddy. Thank you so much for mentioning it. Isn’t it a great looking theme?
