My Adventures with Chakras

by Nadia on April 27, 2009 posted in Health,Life,Spirituality

Years ago, I read the book Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss. In this book, Caroline talks a lot about the seven chakras (energy centers) that are in the human body and how most physical ailments are caused by a particular chakra being out of balance. Each of the seven chakras, according to the book, correlates to a specific area of the body and to certain emotional issues. For example; if someone struggles with issues of self-worth, that correlates to the third chakra and the solar plexus region of the body.

When I first started to read the book, I was skeptical. Then as I found out about each of the chakras, I realized that Caroline had a valid point. Our emotional state does impact our bodies and if the emotions are not healed or dealt with properly, physical problems can occur. She also mentions that some of these emotional issues are carried over from previous lives. I know…isn’t one lifetime of emotional issues enough? Apparently not!

200px-anatomy_of_the_spirit_by_caroline_myss

So with each ailment, I use that book to diagnose myself and 99% of the time, it has been right on. Because of my past, I am very aware that there are certain issues that I have not mastered yet. However, I am glad to be aware of them and to know exactly why I have them.

About two weeks ago, I decided to try an Akashic Record Reading that is offered by my friend Evelyn of Attraction Mind Map. I first heard of the Akashic Records when I was in India. I was told that it was like a file that was on your soul over many incarnations. I found out that one of the purposes of an Akashic Record Reading is to help people discover more information about their past lives and to get some idea of what their soul journey has been like over many lifetimes.

Even though I have heard of the Akashic Records, I never knew you could have a reading of them. Being the open-minded person that I am, I figured I would give it a shot.

Chakras

I personally do not care to know about any past lives, although I do believe in reincarnation. There was a time in my past, where I was curious but it is more important to me to be more focused on working on the here and now. So I approached the reading with an open mind and lots of curiosity.

The interesting thing about the reading was that it brought up the exact two issues and chakras that I know I have to work on. I was happy for the confirmation of what I have always felt to be true. Her reading described the issue so perfectly, I thought I was the one who wrote the report and not her!

I have often wondered why some people only see the effect of whatever they are dealing with, rather then recognizing the cause. I believe that it usually boils down to not being self-aware. I do think we all know our short comings but we tend to treat the symptoms rather then rooting out the causes. We sometimes prefer to sweep them under the rug, metaphorically speaking.

The only way to have inner peace is to be at peace with yourself. The only way to be at peace with yourself is to deal with your issues. The best way to deal with your issues is to confront them at the root level. None of us are perfect…yet…but we can be the best version of ourselves and self-awareness is essential.

Note: Just wanted to let  you all know that I am out of town so I will not respond to comments until later in the day. Have a beautiful day, everyone! :)

Nadia. Fascinating post! I first heard about Akashic records some 10 years ago from a guy who also said he could see tree spirits. Open minded as I am, I discounted both – though have it at the back of my mind as ‘interesting idea I know nothing about’.

You raised what I consider to be a crucial question in your article.

“I have often wondered why some people only see the effect of whatever they are dealing with, rather then recognizing the cause.”

I wish I had an answer. I think the world would be a much better place if we all looked deeper than the surface for the cause of things we don’t like. Just dealing with symptoms tends to increase violence on our planet.

Nadia April 27, 2009 at 4:14 pm

Amen to that, Ian. I agree…the world would be a much better place if people looked beyond the surface and tried to find the cause of things that happen. Hopefully, we all can do our part to make that wish a reality. :)

Hilda April 27, 2009 at 6:22 am

Hi Nadia,

I always use Louise Hay’s book You can Heal your Life to look up metaphysical causes of my physical ailments, and 9 times out of 10 the reason resonates and the affirmation helps to relieve it. I’m really interested now to check out this book – thanks for the recommendation!

And I also had an Akashic reading with Evelyn recently, and it too highlighted two chakras I knew I needed to work on but wasn’t really doing much about them up until then… I’m two thirds of the way through the cleansing process, and already I’m experiencing lots of shifts and letting go fears. (I haven’t updated Evelyn yet, as I had to restart after missing four days while away on retreat! But if you’re reading this Evelyn, I will be in touch)

I hope you’re having fun on your day trip :-)

Nadia April 27, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Hi Hilda,

We just got back and we did have fun. Yay! :)

I have heard of Louise Hay’s book too. I know that book has changed so many lives. Maybe I should read it. It is interesting how so many people reach the same conclusion that physical ailments are related to emotional issues.

Nadia,

Interesting post! I’m still trying to decide if I believe in reincarnation.

“I have often wondered why some people only see the effect of whatever they are dealing with, rather then recognizing the cause.” Good question. My best guess is the underlying cause is so painful that people would rather run away from it than look at it.

Nadia April 27, 2009 at 4:18 pm

Hi Roger,

No worries on the reincarnation. It is the now which matters more. :)

I think you made a great point about how some underlying causes may be too painful for some people to face. I can understand that and relate to that too. However, the only way to heal, is to face those problems head on. Easier said than done but it is essential.

Hi Nadia,

Wonderful article. Healing our energetic bodies has such a profound effect
on our body, mind and soul.

So, pleased to have discovered your blog.

Hi Carole,

I am please you found my blog too! There is definitely a connection between the mind, body and spirit. :)

David Cain April 27, 2009 at 8:02 am

Hi Nadia,

I’ve always been confused about chakras, but the idea seems to make sense to me. Any uneasiness I feel seems to manifest itself in bodily tension, somewhere. Often just identifying and releasing that tension also releases a mental burden I didn’t know I was carrying.

I am intrigued by Akashic Records. I want to see what’s in my file!

Nadia April 27, 2009 at 4:22 pm

Hi David,

I am sure you are not the only one who has been confused about chakras. I was too until I read Caroline’s book. Stress is so toxic and sometimes emotions that we hold on to for too long can become toxic too.

Lance April 27, 2009 at 8:16 am

Hi Nadia,
Wonderful thoughts here! And I’m a big believer in the connection between our emotional and physical states. So, thank you for sharing this, and your experiences. I too have had my Akashic Records read by Evelyn, and it was a very soul-touching experience for me – as it took me to a state of really examining my life at a deeper level. Reaching a level of personal peace is a great place to get to – and this is one more way of understanding “us” at a deeper level – and getting us to that place of peace in our life.

Nadia April 27, 2009 at 4:25 pm

Hi Lance,

I am so happy that you liked the post! That is awesome that your experience with your Akashic Records was so profound. I think we all at one time or another reach a point where we have to examine our lives at a deeper level. May all of us reach a place of peace in our lives sooner as opposed to later! :)

kirwin April 27, 2009 at 9:24 am

Nadia,
It sounds fascinating! I was wondering how Evelyn did the reading, because you’re both in different parts of the world, right? Do you think my HMO would cover an Akashic Reading? ; )

Hi Kirwin,

Location does not matter in order to do the reading. As for the HMO covering it, I have no idea but wouldn’t it be great if they did such things? ;)

Jay Schryer April 27, 2009 at 9:36 am

I have been debating about contacting Evelyn to do my Akashic readings for a few months now. I think you’ve finally convinced me to give it a go! I know next to nothing about chakras, but I’m always interested in learning more.

Evelyn Lim April 27, 2009 at 9:55 am

Nadia,

Thanks for writing a review of my reading services. I have also written a short summary to add further points on chakra imbalances in a post on my site.

I definitely agree with dealing with symptoms at root level!! Many of our current life symptoms have roots in the past. If we can confront them at their source, we will be able to remove negative patterns and beliefs that are stuck at our subconscious.

I wish you much joy, success and fulfilment in your soul journey!

Hi Evelyn,

You are welcome and thank you for mentioning my site in your latest post! :)

I agree with you on the importance of confronting the issues that hold us back. I am sure you have helped many people realize what they have to work on. That is a great blessing!

I also wish you lots of joy, success and fulfilment in your soul journey! :) And that is my wish for every single person in the world too!

Evelyn Lim April 27, 2009 at 10:01 am

@Ian, I certainly agree to your view that “I think the world would be a much better place if we all looked deeper than the surface for the cause of things we don’t like.”

@Hilda, I am glad to know that you have been experiencing shifts. Congratulations!! Keep up with your homework please! On a regular basis, I do a “blanket” cleansing for all my clients too.

@Roger, without confronting the pain, I believe that there can be no or little transformation.

@Lance, thank you for your feedback. I am happy that through the reading, you got to know yourself better. You’ve got a beautiful soul, for sure!!

@kirwin, distances do not matter. It is possible for anyone in the world to retrieve your records, with your permission.

@Jay, you need to go through one, in order to know what a reading can reveal. I’m guessing that you will find yours interesting!

Hi Nadia,
Nice to meet you and find your blog! :-) I am a HUGE fan of Evelyn’s writing and Anatomy of The Spirit is one of the most important books I own. I even wrote some poems about the chakras and what balance in each means after the inspiration from Caroline’s book.

I am so happy your Reading helped you and I know mine helped me as well. I also believe the key to our health lies in awareness/consciousness and in peace or self love. I write about this frequently and believe if you have those 2 — you can and will accomplish anything you set out to in perfect health and harmony.

I am going to explore some of your other posts! Thank you for this.

Gratefully,
Jenny

You are right that if you have awareness and self-love, you can accomplish anything that you want to do. I am happy to know that Caroline’s book provided you inspiration. I think that book is one of those books that just changes your life to the better.

Matthew | Polaris Rising April 27, 2009 at 12:13 pm

Wonderful article! I work with channeling and chakras all the time with healing others and they can be very useful to delve into. (Side note: I tend to differentiate between energetic centers and chakras, which are their gateways. ) There can be imbalances for each.

One thought in terms of development and balance to consider is that each center/chakra has “rights”. The root one has the “right to exist”. The throat has the “right to express”. Often we don’t feel these rights, and energy work can subtly focus attention and provide a jumpstart. Glad to hear you had a wonderful experience!

I liked how you said that each center/chakra has rights. That is an excellent way to describe them.

Just wanted to say, have to love another Carolyn Myss fan. I’ve read and listened to all that she has—starting about five years ago— and it really saved my life at the time…and your blog reminds me to take another listen to what’s really going on. Thanks so much. Molly

Hi Molly!

Welcome to Happy Lotus! It is always nice to meet another Caroline Myss fan! Glad that this post served as a reminder to take another listen to what is happening within you. :)

Lisa (mommymystic) April 27, 2009 at 1:42 pm

Wow, there is something in the air this week, everyone seems to be writing about chakras! I do chakra meditation, and have explored them more from an awareness/occult perspective, which is a little different than the healing/balancing perspective, but I think they work together. I love Anatomy of the Spirit also. Alot of ancient traditions that teach intuition development, healing, sacred sex, magic, and other occult arts relate the teachings to the chakras too, using them as doorways of awareness. It is fascinating stuff. Thanks for sharing your story, and I will head over to Evelyn’s site to see what she’s got to say also!

Welcome to Happy Lotus! You are right about something being in the air concerning chakras. I have come across so many blog posts on the topic. Maybe the Universe is trying to tell us something! ;)

Wow, everyone does seem to be writing about chakras! I write mostly about the simplicity of awakening, but for some reason I was compelled to write about an easy and effective chakra meditation…Nadia, you must be sending out psychic waves!

Great article, very useful.

I just replied to Lisa that the Universe must be trying to tell us something if so many people are writing about chakras! I wonder what it is????? :)

Chris Edgar | Purpose Power Coaching April 27, 2009 at 5:41 pm

Of course now I’m curious about which chakras they were. But don’t tell me if it feels uncomfortable. :)

Nadia April 27, 2009 at 5:58 pm

Hi Chris,

I was hoping no one would ask me that question! :) As for which two, I am thinking about writing a post on them but have not decided yet. So that is why I did not mention which two need more work.

Evelyn Lim April 27, 2009 at 9:44 pm

Matthew,

It’s funny how I seem to be “encountering” either you or your site more this week. For instance, yesterday, I went over to yours from Nadia’s site. Then later in the day, I got an email feed from Abundant Lee about the article that you’ve just published.

You must be acquainted with him. I have just met him over the weekend and will be seeing him again in an open channeling session conducted by Toni Ann Winninger from Masters of the Spirit World. I’ve also had an individual session with Toni. Fascinating stuff!

Just like chakra meditations and what-not, it’s amazing how a similar thread keeps popping up whether offline or online! Thanks for sharing about the “rights”. You have provided a new perspective for healing for me. I use the “rights” as permissions for another energy healing modality, but never quite relate them to the chakras.

All the best,
Evelyn

Nadia:

Thank you for the book review. I consider myself a spiritual Christian and have heard quite a bit about chakras, especially in an audio program that I purchased called “The Ultimate Anti-Career Guide.” It explores how the chakras have an effect on our careers. I haven’t gotten through all of it, but it has made me more curious about this topic. I’ll have to check out Anatomy of the Spirit. Thanks for sharing your review!

Welcome to Happy Lotus! I have not heard of “The Ultimate Anti-Career Guide”. That is interesting how chakras are applied to the concept of careers. It does make sense. I am going to have check it out. Thank you for sharing! :)

Sunny Jamiel April 30, 2009 at 8:44 am

That’s interesting. The Records are known by many names and here in the East they are quite common and people believe in their existence and validity. I have studied them myself and read a lot about them and my understanding developed a lot about them over the years.

One thing I must point out, is that your records do not bind you in anyway. They deal with “potentialities” and if you know how to change your energetic imprints you can change the records too – up to an extent. Your limit to change the records can not override the bigger plan the you co-create with the Universe.

But it sure is interesting to get a reading. I have gotten many over the years with varying degrees of accuracy and as far as I know Eyelyn I can say that she will be good at giving a good reading. Go for it. :)

Hey Nadia:

I’m sorry that I didn’t include his name, but Rick Jarow is the author of this book/audiobook. I downloaded it from Amazon more than I year ago (btw, I love Amazon for all sorts of MP3s -music and otherwise). I like it because it is not a nuts and bolts career guide, but more of a career guide in a spiritual sense.
