While looking at the newest issue of Natural Health magazine, I discovered that there is a new Reynolds Wrap Foil from 100% Recycled Aluminum! Here is what the article said: “It is created with sterilized, food-safe aluminum from cookware, stadium seats, and other post-consumer and post-industrial sources. In addition to reducing waste, reusing old aluminum means the company doesn’t have to dig up the soil and disrupt ecosystems to mine for bauxite, an aluminum ore. The foil’s box and core are crafted from recycled paper and its label is printed with water-based inks low in volatile organic compounds. You can even recycle the wrap again when you’re done with it.” It is always nice to see companies doing what they can to help the environment. Yay!
I came across a very interesting article in Newsweek which I thought was fascinating and wanted to share it with all of you. The title of the article is Talking The Talk. The premise is that those who talk big usually do not achieve their goals but those who are more private about their aspirations are more likely to succeed.
Our final Happy News story is that more and more business school graduates are pledging to be ethical in how they do business. Just as doctors and lawyers are required to take an oath to uphold the highest standards in behavior, there is now a voluntary M.B.A. Oath. Here is the article on that great story.

Hi Nadia,
Awesome stuff, as usual. Yes – it sure is good to hear stories like the Reynold’s Wrap coming out with an environmentally friendly product. The world we live in is most certainly something worth taking good care of.
So – I’ve recently made a public statement of some aspirations I have… Is this setting me up for failure? I tend to believe that it is within all of us to achieve our dreams. And there can be different ways that work for all of us – although I do believe a key is for us to also privately believe in ourselves as well. So – for me anyway – it’s more than just publicly stating a goal – I do first have to fully believe in myself… Hmmm…this one has me thinking today…
Hi Lance,
Great to hear from you! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
As for the article on publically stating your goals, I thought it was very interesting too. You are right that one key factor in achieving our goals is to believe in ourselves. However, I do not know how many people really do believe in themselves so maybe that is why the study concludes that it is better to keep your goals private.
Wow, the synchronicities are incredible right now. I keep hearing/seeing the message “be private,” and the more I honor it, the better it feels. Like Lance, I used to do a bit of publicizing where my aspirations were concerned. Then I was given the message to “keep new projects secret.” And then another message (through the Tao) that true sages need never speak of what they know.
There’s something very magical about not “talking our talk,” as it were.
Many thanks for this post!

Hi Megan,
I guess the Universe is trying to tell you something since you keep hearing the same message from so many different sources. I just love when things like that happen!
Hope you are having a great weekend!
Nadia, fascinating! The talking the talk article goes against what I suspected would be the case, but I tend to trust science and studies over what we intuitively think would be the case. I might do some more research on this. Let me know if you discover anything else on the topic. Thanks for sharing this!

Hi Stephen,
From my experiences of traveling around the world and living in India, I have come to see that culture plays a big part in how people look at a situation. In the East, to brag or to publically talk about your goals is considered a sign of arrogance and is frowned upon. While in the West, talking publically about a person’s goal is viewed as sign of self-confidence. So it was interesting to see how the study showed that it was far better to not discuss your goals publically.
If I do discover anything else on the topic, I will be sure to let you know. Hope you are having a beautiful weekend!
I am a person who likes to state publicly what I intend to accomplish. The truth is… I usually fail. Sounds harsh or negative and I think otherwise.
Recently, I read the book “The Secret” and watched the movie. The power of attraction is something that I believe whole heartedly in and have begun practicing more often. Not sure how it is really working yet. Will let faith take it’s course and give me what I believe I deserve.
Goals have often evaded me. I think that is because I spend too much time obsessed with the action of moving toward them. If I practice relaxing more and believing through the power of attraction then they may manifest more often.
Thanks for a wonderful article. I am book marking you for future visits.

Hi Spencer,
Welcome to Happy Lotus! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences about when you stated publically what you intended to do.
You know the saying “a watched pot never boils”? I think the same is true for goals. If a person is so focused on when the goal will come to fruition, they lose sight of the how. It is far better to do what is needed at any given moment and know that the outcome will appear when it is meant to appear. Like you said, when you relax more into the process, the easier things are and the more quickly things fall into place.
Thank you so much for bookmarking my site too. It is always wonderful to get another reader. Have a great rest of the day!
Great stuff Nadia!
I particularly like the Harvard ethics pledge article. Hopefully, visibility is being directed back to the educational institutions who have spawned so many of these cheaters. Accountability and visibility…may go a long way to creating motivation at both the institutional and student/alumni level to “do the right thing” to keep their school and it’s reputation in good graces.
Maybe we can start a campaign: “If you can’t tame ‘em, shame ‘em!”
Sorry, couldn’t resist…

Hi James,
Welcome to Happy Lotus! Even though I know you from Twitter, I had to give you the official welcome.
No apologies on the campaign slogan. Humor is always welcomed. And yes, hopefully more and more schools will emphasize the importance of acting ethically. I do have a post on this very subject planned for later this week. I hope you will come back and give your thoughts on that too.
Hope you are having an awesome Sunday!
That’s really interesing stuff about Talking the Talk. Thanks for sharing it with us today!

You are welcome.
Hi Nadia
I didn’t know about Reynolds Wrap Foil from 100% Recycled Aluminum, so thank you for sharing. I am going to tell all my friends about this. One more ways to help the environment.

Nadia,
I will definitely be on the lookout for that Reynold’s wrap. I really believe that every act of supporting these companies’ attempts to go green will result in more attempts. Gotta keep that ball rolling!
That is very interesting about the voluntary MBA oath. It reminds me of the steps that medical schools are taking to try to teach future doctors better communication skills.

Hi Ann Elise,
As I told Giovanna, every little bit that we can do to help the environment does make a difference. I also hope that more companies will do what they can to go green.
Your comment about medical schools is an excellent one. I also have heard the medical schools are trying to have more classes on ethics because the third cause of death in this country is due to medical errors. Studies have shown that many doctors do not actually listen to their patients. Kind of sad because you think that they would but they don’t. Many relatives of mine are doctors and I see a difference between the older generation and the younger generation. The relatives of mine who are older, take the time to listen while the younger generation, just does not listen. So hopefully with more education, doctors will begin to take their patients more seriously.
The ‘Talking The Talk’ post made me feel a lot better. I know a lot of very confident people. I’m reserved but work very hard.
