“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost. That is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.”
Henry David Thoreau
Back in November, it began to be very apparent that I needed to make some changes when it came to work and the rest of my outside life. As I have written before, one sign after another kept coming to me and each sign was more powerful than the one before it.
Towards the end of December, I began to accept the fact that certain things about how I viewed work needed to change. I also knew exactly what needed to change.
How did I know what needed to be changed? I looked at all the jobs I have ever had and began to take an honest assessment of what worked and what didn’t.
Deep within me, I knew that all along the problem with all the jobs I ever had was not in so much the working environment as much as it was that I was not a perfect fit for the surroundings.
So as I reviewed every job I have ever had (and I have been working since I was twelve), a common thread began to emerge. Structured environments are like death to me. Nothing sucks out energy more for someone like myself than being confined to a set structure of having to be in the office at a particular time and leaving at a set time.

I prefer to be given a project with an idea of when it should be completed and then leave me alone to work on it in my own way and in my own time. I like to be free to wear what I want and not to have someone watch over my shoulder. Creativity is like air to me and without it, work is quite boring. You can see how being in a corporate environment is nothing like my perfect idea of a job.
With this information, I began with the simple question of what would be my ideal work environment and what would be my ideal way to spend the day doing some type of work that felt more like fun rather than work?
The answers came quickly and I could see the ideal situation in my mind. Once I realized what I really wanted to do and what I wanted my day to look like, very cool things started to happen.
Conversations with people who had no idea what I was dealing with, would confirm to me that what I wanted to do was just perfect for me. Again, signs began to keep coming which just seemed to approve the path that I am on. Also, resources and people have all magically appeared.
So many wonderful things have resulted which I will share as things all fall into place. However, what is of importance to me now is to share with all of you the power of visualization.
The Law of Attraction has gotten a pretty bad rap and part of that is due to the fact that people have no idea what it truly means. Law of Attraction does not state that you just think of what you want and it will magically appear in your lap. The Universe does not work that way. It takes more than just thinking.

Yes, think of all the things you want but you also need to feel as if you already have those things and you have to have faith. Faith meaning that you believe that what you want is possible and can happen to you. Doubting or being cynical just puts out the fire of creation. Faith is the fuel that keeps the flame burning.
Also, another important ingredient is action. Action in the sense that if you have an idea of what you want, research it and see what is involved. Spend as much time as you can figuring out if the thing that you want to do is something that you would be good at doing.
The next step is to accept the fact that the timing of your goal is out of your hands. It will happen when it happens. Just do your part. Meaning take some time to visualize what you want. Imagine yourself doing the things that you want. Be realistic in the sense that your dream and your talents match. Also investigate what your dream requires and just keep the faith that it will happen.
Just as Henry David Thoreau stated in the quote above, building castles in the air is a worthwhile task just as long as you are sure to do the work to help build a foundation. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Every great act in human history started as a result of a dream. So take the time to visualize your ideal world and then make it happen.

Dear Nadia, I am so glad you are sharing your journey with us. I am a big believer in visualization and saw several examples when it created miracles in people’s lives like healing someone I know from a desease when doctors were predicting she had only 6 months left to live. It’s been 5 yers now and she is still very alive and healthy. Our mind can create miracles if we have faith, accept and take action just like you said.
Hi Lana,
I am happy you are enjoying my posts on my journey. It is nice to have such support. Thank you!
And that is great about your friend! Good for her! It reminds me of the story in the movie “The Guitar”. We definitely can heal our bodies and our lives by just believing that we can and doing our part by having faith, visualizing and so on.
Life is truly what we make of it!
Turning Castles in the Air Into Reality – I like this combination. It’s what I call optimist realism: you dream big, then you create a realistic plan to get there. I think this is a very powerful combination for getting real results.
Eduard
Hi Eduard,
Thank you so much for the positive feedback and encouragement!
I like your term “optimist realism”. Sounds awesome to me.
Nadia,
Know that I am happy and excited for you. Your heart is so filled with love and compassion, and that combined with really visualizing what resonates deeply with you – I am sure this will take you down a path of both joy and continued self-discovery.
And speaking of visualization, when that is combined with a deeper connection to soul – wow! That’s exactly what I see in you…something very beautiful to witness. It’s like your heart and soul are unfolding here, and that’s an experience that is so connecting for me. Nadia, know that your sharing of this journey you are on is so, so good for me.
Hi Lance,
Thank you so much for all that you wrote and for your support and friendship! I am grateful!
These last few weeks have been amazing and life altering. It has confirmed to me yet again that visualizing works and when we are determined to do something, the Universe does what it can to help us achieve our goal. Love and compassion are key in making the most out of life and ourselves.
Hope all is awesome!
Hey Nadia,
I’m very lucky in that my office environment is very relaxed and I don’t have anyone breathing down my neck however I know that for many people working in an office tends to steal their soul.
We share a common thread in that we are in the pursuing the idea of shaping our lives through dreaming big and then taking action, you for one are making that real for you and it’s inspiring to see!
Hi Amit,
Thank you so much for all the kinds things you wrote!
That is awesome that you are able to work in a relaxed office environment. That is a blessing and I am sure that you will give your all to making your dreams a reality.
Amen for dreaming big!
Hi Nadia,
as Lance pointed out, I believe the Law of Attraction is working so powerfully for you because you are so connected with your soul. When our desires are motivated by Spirit rather than ego, then they are for the highest good of all and not just the apparent good of one or a few. And when you want for yourself what is for the highest good of all, the whole Universe conspires to help you bring that about.
I am so excited for you, and really looking forward to hearing how it all unfolds
Hi Hilda,
I am so blessed to have such supportive readers! Thank you so much for all that you wrote.
You and Lance made an important point about coming from the soul as opposed to the ego. I believe in that too. Anything that is ego driven will not attain long lasting effects because the motive is more rooted in self than a higher purpose.
I do think that when we come from love it is from the soul because the ego only knows fear.
Hope all is well with you! Your story about how you changed locations was an inspiration to me!
Nadia,
I just stumbled on your blog today via elephantjournal.com, and what a fantastic first post to read! Thank you for sharing your path with us. I feel inspired and happy- and very excited for you, as we are always happiest when following our true dreams! Much peace!
Hi Elize,
Thank you so much for making your way here from Elephant Journal. I am fortunate to be a regular contributor over there and love being a part of it.
I am also grateful to have inspired you and your happiness for me is much appreciated! Life is an awesome adventure. We just need to accept the fact that we are the creators of our reality.
Hope all is awesome and much peace to you too!
This is wonderful, Nadia. I’m really amazed at how similar our current situations are…it’s like I’m following right behind you along this career path…so thank you for blazing the trail!
Hi Jay,
It is kind of cool how our situations are similar. We can share what we learn with each other. As for blazing the trail ahead….I am happy to share the journey and if it makes your journey easier then that is awesome too!
Thanks for this inspiring post, Nadia. You show us a process of discernment that is happening in a positive and responsible way, looking deeply at what you desire so that what you ask for comes from a wise and well-grounded place. And I appreciate the reminder that we can’t force the timing of what we ask for, that we can only do our part and have faith.
Hi Susan,
Many years ago I was a typical Type A personality and patience was definitely not my strong point. Then I went on an intense spiritual journey and that changed everything for me. I learned that so much of life is a matter of timing and that it is out of my hands. So when I surrendered that and just started doing what the moment required, I began to notice how effortlessly things were. With each step, I learned more and I came to see that we do create our reality and we can make our dreams come true. We just have to know what we want, see if it is a good fit, have faith, visualize doing it and the rest will fall into place.
The Universe is merciful and compassionate. We are meant to be happy but we have forgotten that fact.
Hope all is awesome and see you on Twitter!
Firstly, I’m so excited for you! I can’t wait to hear about your journey and how it unfolds! Maybe it will inspire me to make a change!
The thought that came to mind from your opening quote was something I hear in recovery referred to as “a pink cloud.” It’s the feeling of pure joy and excitement when a newcomer enters recovery and begins the realization that anything is possible. That without the prison of addiction they start to feel empowered and free. However, many believe the “pink cloud” stage is only temporary and that eventually life will settle in bringing anxiety, pain, and fear. I do not believe that. As I was taught and believe, the pink cloud is God’s grace and it means having our head in the clouds with God yet our feet planted firmly on the ground. That if we do the work (in AA it’s the 12 Steps) which is all about developing a relationship with a higher power and building a life based on spiritual principles. If we continue to enhance our spiritual condition the pink cloud can last for ever. I love it, it’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced, besides watching others get it. To see them come in on the verge of death, stick around, do the work and within months or years they truly are reborn into productive, happy citizens; priceless. For me it truly was achieving the ideal self, the visualization I always had of myself deep within but always seem to fall short.
A thought came to mind when you were talking about the Secret.
Rhetoric does not satisfy the soul.
I read that somewhere recently and it made sense to me in regards to visualization and/or intellectualizing change versus action. I agree that visualization is hugely important, we must have a vivid idea of where we’re going if we expect to get there.

Hi Jared,
Thank you so much for the support! The last few weeks have been incredible and as things unfold, I will definitely share it with all of you.
I love the concept of the “pink cloud” and your take on it. What a beautiful concept! God is merciful and compassionate. When we are ready to change our ways, guidance and support comes in ways that are humbling and surprising. Often, we need to fall down on our knees in order to begin a new way of living. We have to exhaust all possibilities before we are ready to try another way. I know for myself, I needed to have everything in my life fall apart in order for me to begin my spiritual journey. I am so happy it happened because it got me to the point where now I can work on aligning my outer life to match my inner life.
One more thing, I have heard much about the 12 step program but never knew the details. I love how it encourages a development of spiritual relationship with a higher power and a life based on spiritual principles. Do you know of any resources I can use to find out more about the 12 steps? I would love to read up on it.
Hope all is awesome!
Nadia,
This is a basic rundown of the 12 steps:
http://www.12step.org/
There are many places to find the book Alcoholics Anonymous (also called “The
Big Book” or “The Blue Book”) on the internet:
http://anonpress.org/bb/
I would start off by reading the Drs Opinion here:
http://anonpress.org/bb/docsopin.htm
It gives a good description of what alcoholism is and what it’s like to suffer
from the disease.
One of the most amazing text is something the founder, Bill W. wrote a few years
after he founded AA. He suffered from severe depression even in his sobriety but
went on to write sort of a companion to the 12 Steps and the AA “Big Book” known
as the Twelve and Twelve (Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions). It goes more
in-depth into how and why each of the twelves steps are worked. It truly is an
amazing walk through building a spiritual life.
You can download a .pdf version here:
http://www.aa.org/1212/
AA and the 12 steps were originally written as a modification or spawned from
the Oxford Group in the early thirties. There’s a ton of history, but basically
one of Bill W’s old friends Ebby T who could not stay sober, no matter how much
money or hospitalization he threw at it, came to Bill W one day a completely
changed man. He was sober and happy. Ebby shared with Bill what he had gotten
and learned from a spiritual transformation through the Oxford Group. The Oxford
Group specialized in “spiritual transformations” and was rooted in four
absolutes: Honesty, Unselfishness, Purity, and Love.
Bill W would eventually get sober using some of the things he learned from the
Oxford Group (a physic change through a spiritual experience – see step 12) and
the power of carrying the message to other alcoholics. Originally the 12 steps
were “directions” but later the wording was changed to “suggestions.” And the
most important part, was that everyone gets to choose “their own conception of
God.” The founders (Bill W and Dr. Bob and the early pioneers of the AA)
realized how important the wording and inclusion of all religious beliefs were
to the fate of alcoholics and AA itself. It’s self-governing with no president,
board of directors, etc. It really is an amazing movement and has survived the
test of time. AA and the 12 steps aren’t there for people who need it, but for
those who want it. It truly is the last house on the block for most. For every
person that finds recovery, thousands and thousands more die.
I see a lot of people who come into AA and sit around for weeks, months, or
years and intellectualize recovery. I used to be one of them. Yet without some
type of spiritual change as a result of working the 12 steps, a true alcoholic
will drink again. Or the pain of living a life without alcohol will become too
much and… well, many commit suicide. There’s a saying, sober up a horse thief
and you still got a horse thief. We must learn how to accept life on life’s
terms.
A lot of people think AA is just about alcoholics sitting around complaining and
talking. Sure, there are meetings that have that aspect to them, but the
foundation and whole purpose of AA is the 12 steps. In its simplest form, it’s
about finding God; whatever that means to each of us. Building a relationship
with a power greater than ourselves; and for some that choice is not so simple.
It’s funny, it job interviews or when someone asks me “what’s the best thing
you’ve ever done?” My first thought is always, “being an alcoholic.” Had I not
been brought to a spiritual life through the lash of alcoholism, I’d still be
miserable and always chasing after happiness.
.-= Jared´s last blog ..Spiritual Lane Change: 9 Ways to De-stress =-.
Hi Jared,
Thank you so much for all the information and links! I really appreciate it.
I also love the story of how this organization came to be and how they incorporated spirituality. In my own life, I have intellectualized my problems which only kept me stuck. When spirituality came into my life, it changed everything. I think we all can learn from spirit whether we are battling an addiction or some other kind of inner problem. We all have our issues that we need to master and overcome. Inner work is an important adventure that we all must take in order to grow and move forward in our lives.
Life has an interesting way of taking us places and often perceived “bad things” are blessings in disguise. If it were not for my painful youth, I do not think I would be the person that I am today. God has a sense of humor.
Good for you for not only recovering but for sharing your knowledge and experiences with others! You go, dude!
Excellent and right on. I really like your clarification of “Law of Attraction”, which has received a lot of discussion around the blogosphere, like Elephant Journal http://bit.ly/72ZObN

Sounds like you are continuing to find the best foundation for your castle, in knowing what your ideal workplace is like. Perhaps your home. It seems to me your work will involve a lot of computer time, reaching out to others, as you do here?
And we build the foundation under the clouds one step at a time!
I really like the image of that well loved well-worn paintbrush. Do you paint??
.-= Jannie Funster´s last blog ..She At Three In Hat =-.
Hi Jannie,
Are you able to read the future or minds? You are somewhat close.
And yay for building foundations for castles that are in the clouds!
As for painting, I did a long time ago but nothing really good. I used the image of the paint brush because I believe that we create our reality. So it is up to us to determine what we want our lives to look like. It can either be very colorful or very dull.
Hope all is awesome with you!

Blessings to you!
Nadia, I love the Thoreau quote, and I think our views of the the law of attraction are very similar. It is a wonderful ‘tool’ for aligning our inner and outer lives. I do think not all the writing out there on it has incorporated some of the important points you have here about faith, timing, action etc. And on a more general level, I just have some issues with it being presented as THE law of the universe, as opposed to ONE law, and also with the fact that it in some teachings on the subject, it can just end up sounding like the whole point of life is getting what we want. As opposed to say, LOVE!!! But I know that you are coming from a place of love, and that right now you need to make these changes in your life so in fact you can share more love, so that is how these things align…hope that makes sense! – lisa
.-= Lisa (mommymystic)´s last blog ..Meditation: How Often and How Long? =-.
Hi Lisa,
You made total sense. So no worries.
I agree with how the Law of Attraction is promoted as being the only law when it is not. It works in conjunction with a bunch of other laws. Life is so much more than getting what we want. We are here to grow and become wiser and better. And yes, life is all about love.
Marianne Williamson gave a lecture years ago where she said that many people will try to come up with something as a means to make money without doing it with love. She went on to say that those people will achieve success but it will be short lived. However, when you act from a place of love (meaning being love and spreading love), the Universe will support that vision for a long time.
I have come to notice that when something is done with love, things have a beautiful way of coming together. Anything done to promote the ego just will self-destruct. I have noticed that aligning my outer life with my inner life requires being aware of what I love and being an expression of that love. The last few weeks have proven to me that when our intention is rooted in love, things just somehow fall into place. It has been mind blowing on so many levels.
Hi Nadia, nicely write up! Especially I love the perfect pics with every post. You always find a pic perfect that matches with every article. I am happy and excited for your journey!
Yes, I am one of them who strongly portray their dreams. I advised by one of my close friend that chew your dreams everyday and visualize what you strongly want and beware of what you want (like your ‘Yoda Master’ article). I meant your burning desires in your life. These days I am in between jobs and trying for a good job. I really have started to visualize about my future work place, my dream role of job and yes.. a very healthy environment of course! If I can imagine all these, one day it would turn into real. I just always give a positive fuel to myself and surroundings. Think positive, eat positive, drink positive, sleep positive and live positive —just keep urself around positive things and people and you’ll see a big positive changes in your life. That’s my mantra!
.-= Sonia´s last blog ..Hearty Tomato Soup! =-.
Hi Sonia,
That is an excellent mantra to have! I am sure that all your efforts will reap results when the time is right. We are the creators of our reality. What we dwell on, we bring into our lives. The problem is that most people dwell on what they don’t want and that very act keeps bringing the situations and/or feelings that they do not love or like.
Thank you so much for the kind words about the pictures. I really try to find pictures that match the content of my post. And I also appreciate your support!
Hi Nadia:
Thanks for sharing this…like you, I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching. However, it has taken me longer for my answers to emerge. I admire you…it seems that you are very in tune with yourself and a great observer of your thoughts and feelings. I’m sure this comes from all the meditation and visualization that you do and its a great reminder that I (we) need to continue exploring this even though I (we) don’t see immediate results. Thanks also for the visualization and LOA tips.
You do a great job sharing what is unfolding for you and I’m very curious to learn what is next for you. Once again, great post and thanks for being a great example for us.
.-= Tim´s last blog ..The Magic of Showing Up, Part Two =-.
Hi Tim,
Thank you so much for all the kind things you wrote and for the support. Both are much appreciated.
It took me years to get to this point because I had so many inner issues to work through. My spiritual journey really provided me with the tools to dig deep and realize what I needed to heal.
The benefits of meditation vary from person to person. I also think we each have our own baggage we have to get rid of and we each have to do it in a way that works for us.
In my case, once the inner issues were taken care of, it provided the foundation to be able to focus on changing my outer life to match my inner life.
It is my wish and hope that I can help others do what I have done and am doing by sharing my journey here and through other methods too.
Oh my Heart…I am so glad I found your blog (through “pleasant provocations” blog)…this post could not resonate more with me than if you had stolen the thoughts from my own head…amazing.
You haven’t read my blog before -obviously haha
…but I always talk about not being happy in my current job, seeking happiness/peace/contentment, seeking a job I would love everyday…not just settling for…fighting my own “demons” and depression….I am trying to find myself.
I know that I like to set my own time/hours, I love to write! , I love to research and read!!, love to learn, and have a connection with yoga…but it’s impossible to be taken seriously as a writer nowadays without the background…and nearly impossible to find the time to write with full-time work and other courses/weekend trainings…
I often feel I waste time blogging – but then I love it too…and maybe I’m being too hard on myself …maybe the blogs I post – whether serious or not – may inspire something in me or practice my writing skills at the least…
Your words have given me faith to not give up on my dream. I especially like the “timing” part…yes, I know I can’t wait for something to drop in my life…but I have to accept that I must continue to have faith and take whatever steps I can without frustrating myself or beating myself up over the slow process…
Namaste girl. I’ll be back

Hi Eat Move Love,
I love the name of your blog which is a cool reminder of one of my favorite books “Eat Pray Love”.
And I am happy that you found your way here! I love when that happens and I am thrilled that you could relate to my post.
Good for you for knowing what you want and going for it. Not many people know what they want and that is an important step in creating the life that you want.
Don’t be so hard on yourself because that won’t help or make your dreams come true any quicker. Just be still and listen to your heart. It will guide you in the right direction. And by all means keep the faith and visualize how you want to be. When we let go of the reins, the Universe can then take full control and things will be easier.
As for the writing, the more you do it, the better it becomes. It is like exercising. You have to train yourself and therefore anything you write is not a wasted effort. Something is only a waste of time or a mistake if you don’t learn from it.
Namaste to you! And keep going for your dreams!
Hi Nadia
It is so funny that we actually have to relearn how to align ourselves with the most beautiful ways to live.
The hardest bit is sometimes to understand divine timing and not pushing it or panicking when it is not happening in a timeframe that you think is most suited.
The other thing to learn is when is enough enough, how much work do I have to do and how much is the universe going to do and is letting of of worry letting go of my responsibility?
Oh all these questions and I love how you will answer these while you go and manifest.
Go, my friend go, I am watching and listening and learning. xox Wilma

Hi Wilma,
Thank you so much for the support! It means so much!
As for your questions, I sure have had my adventures in figuring those things out. I have come to notice that anytime I start to have a slight feeling of worry, I try to nip it in the bud and recognize that worrying won’t do anything. I then remember a favorite quote of mine:
“If there is a solution to your problem, then why worry? If there is no solution to your problem, then why worry since there is nothing you can do.”
Sums it up for me.
Hi Nadia,
I am so happy for you that things are falling into place and that the universe is rising up to meet you. Your quote by Thoreau is awesome–how perfect it is for this post!

I love this Thoreau quote! Yes building the foundations and knowing that things don’t always happen on our time schedule…or manifest exactly the way we expected…but that does not mean the result of our dreams, and hard work will not blossom into a surprisingly wonderful flower.

Hi Laura,
I fell in love with that quote as soon as I read it. Thank you so much for all the support. I am blessed to have such wonderful readers.
Life is an interesting journey. Our thoughts are like seeds. We just have to know/trust that things will bloom at the right time and grow in a manner that is perfect for us. Sometimes what we want is not necessarily what is perfect for us and the only way we see that is by experience!
Hope all is awesome!
Hi Nadia! I’m so happy clapping for you and your journey I can barely type! You are so right about the Laws of Attraction getting a bum rap – it’s not the fault of the concept as much as it is people wanting short cuts and fast responses. The total lack of understanding and patience is a part but so is BELIEF.
Years ago I stumbled on “life as if” which on the surface sounds silly but man oh man, when you do this, the results are amazing. I never would have had the courage to paint without believing I AM an artist and just going ahead and painting. You can’t imagine how I about peed in my pants at the first art show when I sold a painting!
Have you listened to the Abraham/Hicks tapes? It’s all about the Laws of Attraction, Acceptance and Allowing. I have many in the series and whip them out when I “forget” or need a boost. And I have to BUY “The Guitar” cuz none of the rental places here have the movie – poobah!
I am soooo thrilled you are chronicaling your journey here – how positively inspirational you are! What is so beautiful about the process you are sharing is that you will be a guiding light for SO MANY OTHERS! YAY! My laptop has a special glow every time I’m on your Lotus! Hi SuZen,
Thank you so much for always being so supportive and encouraging! I really appreciate it and it means so much to me. I am so blessed to have such wonderful readers. It is so beautiful.
That is so awesome that you are a painter and that you have been able to have art shows where your work is sold! You go, girl! I love how you made that dream become a reality. You definitely are a very talented lady.
As for Abraham/Hicks, I have read one of the books on the law of attraction. Actually, I still own it but I don’t remember the name at the moment. I never listened to the tapes. I do own “The Secret” and whenever I need any reinforcement, I put that in my computer and watch it. Works every single time.
And you are right, people misunderstand LOA because it has been given the image that it means you can get what you want without doing anything. Life does not work that way. I think many people who criticize LOA have not taken the time to study it. Ironically, every person that I have recently spoken to who has achieved their dreams, all have told me that they visualize and follow LOA. So there is truth to it…it is just more than people realize.
Talking of light…yours shines bright too!
It is my hope that by sharing my journey, it will encourage others to do the same. Actually, it is my desire to just simply help people achieve their bliss and find meaning.
Hugs right back to you!
Hi Nadia,
Watching you (and Jay) on this journey had been so, well, FUN! It’s exciting.
I’m glad you introduced the idea of action into your post, too. The Secret, laws of attraction, and all that fall apart if a person only thinks that by visualizing things will happen.
One will never be an all-start athlete if he or she doesn’t get off the couch!
I loved reading comments here and it has been LOVELY watching your dreams unfold. Thanks for sharing and writing as you go, Nadia.

As for being amazing, I don’t know about that. I have never been good at receiving compliments so I am tongue tied with that one.
The LOA is so much more than what people think. It is a combination of factors that work together to achieve a goal.
We are the creators of our reality.
Hope all is awesome!
Hi Nadia ..
You are so thorough in your approach and it is so good to be able to follow along with you. I have always visualised, probably not realising it was a process, just it happened & it still does and needs to happen.
Like you I must get on with my intentions and so am now in the position of starting to put all those layers into place visually, work things through in my mind, while I do the background work and do some necessary things to enable it all to happen .. then that first castle keep in the foundation wall beginnings can begin to grow.
I too hate being tied to hours and tied down – always have done – I’ll adhere, but on my terms – usually ending working long hours, but getting satisfaction, or not being so rushed to get things done .. sometimes scrunchy tummy as I struggle to finish excess work!! If you achieve in a corporate existence .. they expect more of you for the same …
It’s wonderful being here along with you and everyone else on the path forward …

Hi Hilary,
Thank you so much for the support! It is wonderful to be able to share this journey with all of you. I am just so grateful for the reaction I have been receiving. It is really beautiful.
Setting intentions definitely does work and the events of the recent weeks have proved to me yet again that life has an interesting way of making things fall into place. You just really have to be clear as to what you want and be willing to do what is needed. Everything works together and alignment is really important.
Many times people want good things but all they dwell on is what is wrong. Therefore, they keep experiencing the things that they don’t like. What you dwell on, you create. That is why it is so important to surround ourselves with positivity. The company we keep does rub off on us on some level.
For example, when I was at the law firm, by the end of the day I was just drained no matter how happy I felt. It was because everyone around me was just so negative. Everything works together and everything has an impact. That is why it is so important that we are conscious of our choices and how we do things.
I like the title to your post! One of the first posts that I wrote was about a Cinderella’s dream to explain the Law of Attraction (LOA).
From the sound of things, you sure do not seem suited for a structured work environment. I’m glad that things are magically appearing for you! But as you said, it’s not really magical if we think about it. It’s the LOA. Actually, the LOA is working all the time. Where attention goes, energy flows! If you are wanting something deeply and best if it is aligned to your higher purpose, you receive universal support!

Hi Evelyn,
The LOA is definitely at work at all times. The Universe works in amazing ways and things have a beautiful way of falling into place. We just to be clear about what we want and in order to know what is perfect for us, we have to know who we are. So it helps to know the kind of environment where we would thrive.
And here’s to turning your dreams into reality too!
Hi Nadia
I am so happy for you! Yes, when we look within, when we begin to really start verbalizing what we want and following our passions, it is amazing how serendipitous the world becomes. All of a sudden the right people, and the right opportunities seem to be knocking at our door!
Nadia, I so hear also about being in a confined environment. That was the good thing about teaching, in the classroom, I was technically my own boss. But one still has structured days and obligations. That is also one of the reasons that helped me walk away from that job. Today the freedom of working for myself – well more than anything following my passions, is just priceless!
I think you are on an awesome journey and I look forward to hearing more about how awesome it is going!

Hi Evita,
Thank you so much for all the support and encouragement!
I know you had shared how you left your teaching job to follow your passions and I think that is wonderful. It is nice to be your own boss, isn’t it?
For me, hard work is something that I welcome and enjoy. However, being in a structured environment feels so draining to me. Some people like such things but I am not one of them. It has been a wonderful realization which began a whole new journey.
Life is so beautiful. Once we take the first step to changing things around, the Universe meets up with us and things have a way of falling into place. It is so humbling and merciful.
I know what you mean, Nadia; I learned about 12 years ago that structured environments are like death to me.
Very inspirational piece.
Hi Wayne,
I am glad that I am not alone in not loving structured environments!
And thank you so much for the positive feedback. Hope all is awesome!
Why, yes, Nadia I am psycho — I mean PSYCHIC!! It shows, eh??

Hi Jannie,
It totally shows.
Thank you so much for featuring my comment at Lance’s site on your blog today! Yay!!!! I will definitely check it out!
You rock too!
I am the same way about structured work environments. I become very depressed and irritable in these types of jobs. Even though my current job is not my ideal placement, there is a certain amount of variety and flexibility that keeps me going. The flourescent light hell of cubicles was never for me! I truly hope you find and attain your dream. With such positive energy that you radiate and your great writing talent, what can possibly hold you back!

Hi Lena,
Thank you so much for always being so supportive! As I have said in many replies, I am so blessed to have such wonderful readers. Words cannot describe the gratitude that I feel for all of you.
As for my dream, things are coming together in very interesting ways. This whole journey has been so amazing. Once everything is somewhat in place, I will share more details.
I am happy that your current job provides you with some variety and flexibility that sustains you. That is wonderful! It is interesting because when I look back at when I first started to work full time, I realize that I never really considered the work environment as a factor. My focus was more on getting a job and never really considering how it made me feel. For some reason or another, that never factored into the decision.
It is interesting how with each experience, we learn more about ourselves.
Hope all is awesome, my fellow Jersey girl!
I don’t really fit very well into structured work. Like you, I need to know the goals, then get out of my way. It’s how I work best and I innovate in my process and results.
Interestingly, having simple structure for parts of my life, frees me up in a lot of ways (such as having routines for eating, sleeping, and working out.) Otherwise, I lose balance and I swallow my passion alive

Hi JD,
The routine structures for some reason don’t bother me as much because they are self-imposed. So for example, if I set a time aside to walk or meditate, that does not bother me.
It is when it is imposed on me that bothers me since we each have our own working style. I am the kind of person who can block out everything around me when I work. Yet I like the freedom to come in when I want and do my work as I want.
So the distinction, I guess, is between imposed and self-imposed structure.
